Terms of Service

Locatrove is a location journal for photographers and videographers. You log places you shoot, keep them private or share them, and discover places other people have shared. It is operated by Jay Digital.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself and use one that is hard to guess. Give accurate details when you sign up, and let us know if you think someone else has gained access.

Keep it decent and lawful. In particular, do not:

• log a place you have no right to share, or one whose owner has asked to keep it off maps
• post content that is unlawful, harassing, or deliberately false
• scrape the database, hammer it with automated requests, or try to defeat the checks on public forms
• attempt to read other people's private logs, or to work around the privacy tiers

What you write stays yours. You own your logs, notes, and photos.

For the service to work, you give Jay Digital permission to store your content and to display it according to the privacy tier you chose. When a location becomes a shared entry, as described in the Privacy Policy and on the page that explains how merging works, you grant permission for the notes on your logs there to be pooled into that shared entry and shown to others, without your name unless you chose the public tier. This permission is what lets the shared map exist. It does not extend to your private note, which is never shared, and it ends for a given log when the pooled record no longer relies on it.

This one is important. Locatrove carries notes about how to reach places: gates, tracks, tides, permits, parking, and terrain. That information is contributed by people, it can be wrong, and it can go out of date the moment a fence goes up or a road closes. We show you when a note was last confirmed so you can weigh it, and we never present a note as guaranteed.

You go to these places at your own risk. Check conditions, permissions, and your own ability before you travel, especially anywhere remote, tidal, or exposed. Jay Digital is not responsible for what happens when you act on information found here.

Locatrove is free to use while the database grows. If paid features arrive, the price and what they include will be stated clearly before you are ever asked to pay, and nothing you already have will be taken away to make room for them.

We work to keep the service running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable or that nothing will ever go wrong. The service is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those the law does not let us exclude.

To the extent the law allows, Jay Digital is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including loss that follows from acting on information found here. This does not limit anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

You can stop using Locatrove and close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where it is fair to do so we will tell you why. Notes already pooled into a shared entry may remain as part of that shared record, as the Privacy Policy explains.

These terms may change as the product does. We will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly will be heard in the state and federal courts located in Lander County, Nevada.
